JAGGIES

A jagged, stair-like effect in a digital photograph where a smooth line or a curve should be. The result of low image resolution or very lossy compression. See also PIXELIZATION.

JPEG

An image compression standard developed by the Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPEG is lossy compression format that reduces the file size of images at the expense of image quality.
